Aloe Vera is one of the most intriguing natural remedies there are. Here are some of the things it does.
Halts the growth of cancer tumors.
Lowers high cholesterol.
Repairs “sludge blood” and reverses “sticky blood”.
Boosts the oxygenation of your blood.
Eases inflammation and soothes arthritis pain.
Protects the body from oxidative stress.
Prevents kidney stones and protects the body from oxalates in coffee and tea.
Alkalizes the body, helping to balance overly acidic dietary habits.
Cures ulcers, IBS, Crohn’s disease and other digestive disorders.
Reduces high blood pressure natural, by treating the cause, not just the symptoms.
Nourishes the body with minerals, vitamins, enzymes and glyconutrients.
Accelerates healing from physical burns and radiation burns.
Replaces dozens of first aid products, makes bandages and antibacterial sprays obsolete
Halts colon cancer, heals the intestines and lubricates the digestive tract.
Ends constipation.
Stabilizes blood sugar and reduces triglycerides in diabetics.
Prevents and treats candida infections.
Protects the kidneys from disease.
Functions as nature’s own “sports drink” for electrolyte balance.
Boosts cardiovascular performance and physical endurance.
Speeds recovery from injury or physical exertion.
Hydrates the skin, accelerates skin repair.
The author Mike Adams wrote many things about Aloe and referencing everything in that list above. One that I found very interesting is that he says that aloe vera makes everything in our first aid kits obsolete.
“You can get rid of all those silly, toxic first aid sprays (antibacteria sprays, lotions, bandages, etc.) and just replace them all with aloe vera. I’ve be known to pack small chunks of aloe vera gel inside wounds that ultimately healed with zero scarring. As the aloe vera dries, it actually contracts, pulling the wound shut and keeping it completely free of dangerous bacteria. Plus, it provides nourishment to the wound tissue itself. It’s also perfect for us on animals, because if they lick the wound, they won’t be licking the toxic chemicals found in most first aid products” (Mike Adams, p.7)

There are many reasons why one should maintain and or loss weight. Three are a few way to loose weight. Physical activity not only helps you reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes but it helps with your overall health and wellness in relation to your emotional, and mental state.
With decreasing your calorie intake (if you are trying to loss weight) combined with increasing your physical activity will help loss weight and also maintain your weight.
I get a lot of questions on what one should do, what exercises are the best, how long should I work out? Here is what the CDC says about this.
“To maintain your weight, work your way up to 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity, or an equivalent mix of the two each week.”
“To loose weight and keep it off you will need a high amount of physical activity unless you also adjust your diet and reduce the amount of calories you’re eating and drinking.”
What do moderate- and vigorous-intensity mean?
Moderate: While performing the physical activity, if your breathing and heart rate is noticeably faster but you can still carry on a conversation — it’s probably moderately intense. Examples include—
Walking briskly (a 15-minute mile).
Light yard work (raking/bagging leaves or using a lawn mower).
Light snow shoveling.
Actively playing with children.
Biking at a casual pace.
Vigorous: Your heart rate is increased substantially and you are breathing too hard and fast to have a conversation, it’s probably vigorously intense. Examples include—
Jogging/running.
Swimming laps.
Rollerblading/inline skating at a brisk pace.
Cross-country skiing.
Most competitive sports (football, basketball, or soccer).
Jumping rope
With all of this information, getting in the gym, changing your diet sometimes this doesn’t help. I have seen many that have come into the gym almost everyday, change their diets and it still doesn’t help. There are many things that could be keeping these individuals from loosing the weight they want to loose, but one particular chemical that our body produces that helps with loosing weight and maintaining ones weight is Leptin. There are many studies that show
the connection to weight loss and Leptin levels. Leptin controls your hunger and it also tells your body when to burn fat.
“Research has revealed something that works with our body’s natural systems to lose weight and to allow you to maintain that weight loss! Scientists discovered communication between fat cells and your brain. A messaging hormone called leptin that is manufactured by every fat cell in your body tells your brain when you’ve had enough to eat. It also serves as a sort of on, off switch for fat cells that determines whether cells will store fat or burn fat.”
However, there is something missing in a lot of us and that is for this switch to work “your brain has to clearly hear Leptin’s message.” Leptin tells your brain that you are full and you need to stop eating, and it regulates it by sending messages to your brain to either burn it or store it. However, the problem comes in when we consistently overeat, the fat we have gained will send out too much leptin which causes the brain and body to stop listening to those messages.
MAX International has a product that reduces the leptin levels and helps control your appetite. The product is MAX WLX! The University of Connecticut tested MAX WLX in a 8 week double blind, placebo controlled study. The two groups were given the same advice with dietary guidance and an exercise program. Only one group received the MAX WLX. Both groups lost weight because of the recommendations on exercise and diets but the group that took the WLX had significant differences.
The group that took the the WLX lost 21.5 lbs of body fat in 8 weeks, Lost 3.96 inches off their waist, Lost 3.28 inches off their hips, Lost 1.2 inches offeach thigh, Elevated leptin levels were reduced by 42%, and they had a 90% greater fat loss than the diet and exercise alone group.
So if you are frustrated with a plateau in your weight loss program or exercise program , or you want to loose weight or maintain your current weight please contact me for MAX WLX! You will not regret it!

Who is NSF and what does NSF stand for?
NSF International is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that was founded in 1944 as the National Sanitation Foundation. Please watch this video of a Dr. who is an infectious disease expert.
In the video you will see he is concerned about the vaccine than the flu, he is worried that there hasn’t been a lot of testing and it was rushed to the market, it is also proven to be toxic to the nervous system, and over all it is risky.
Please do your own research and overall pray about what to do before doing it.
To meet the growing demands of athletes, coaches and all those concerned about banned substances in sports supplements, NSF International developed an athletic banned substances certification program. The new NSF Certified for Sport™ program minimizes the risk that a dietary supplement or sports nutrition product contains a substance banned by one of the major sports organizations.
NSF tests and certifies that these products contain the identity and quantity of dietary ingredients declared on the product label, but do not contain unacceptable quantities of unwanted contaminants for the recommended serving size listed on the product label.
Exceeding recommended serving sizes may increase risk, so athletes should be sure to follow the serving size instructions indicated on the product and check with their health care provider before taking any sports supplement. MaxGXL will be on the site by Oct17, 2009. The Certification is official.

I am not sure if you know my story but over four weeks ago I had some pain in my shoulder and neck area. Long story short I was admitted into the hospital with an abscess that was infected with an aggressive staff that was drained three times during the two weeks I was in the hospital. Durning those two weeks I had about four or five different doctors that were looking over me. One was a Hematologist and this Dr. and I quote, “I want some of the stuff you are on cause if you your immune system wasn’t as strong as it was you would of been in a lot worse condition, in fact if you were older you might of died.”
This brings me to MAX GXL! I have been on this product for over a year now and not only have I seen tremendous results just in my daily energy level, my stress levels but this product has helped my body in so many ways and it is becoming apparent in ways I didn’t even know it was.

In a recent blog I wrote about interval training – burst training- or surge training. Whatever name you use these similar training methods have the same philosophy. Incorporating bursts at 90% effort with rests in between. “One study showed that those who cycled at 40 minutes, alternating four-minute bursts at 90% effort with two minutes of rest, improved their cardiovascular fitness by 13%, and were able to burn 36 more fat during a later hour long moderate cycling session” (Mercola). Rather than going 40 minutes researchers from University of New South Wales show that you can burn more fat exercising for only 20 minutes.
These types of routines are great, especially if you are bored with your routine and need a pick me up and a change in the gym. I firmly believe in “muscle confusion.” You need to confuse your muscles to get the greatest results and to keep in interesting.
There are differences in opinion and other researchers from “University of Pittsburgh found that a 55 minute regime was the minimum needed to maintain a 10% drop in weight” (Mercola). The research points to a combination of calorie control (which diet is said to be at least 70% -80% of weight loss issues) and exercise. When you combine watching what you eat and exercise you have the best chance to lose weight.
The journal Obesity just came out with a new study that says by 2030 86% of U.S. adults could be overweight, even worse they say by 2048 100% of adults, and one-third of children will be overweight. These statistics are scary and after reading that you may need to exercise for 55 minutes at 5 days a week maybe even more scary but you have to remember that this level of exercise is only required if you are overweight. Another way to look at this is that it didn’t take you only 10 or 15 minutes a day to become overweight so there is an exercise debt that you must deposit back to regain the best health possible.
Now this 55 minute workout doesn’t mean you have to be on the treadmill or elliptical for that long. Incorporating the burst training into your workouts is very easy and helps with burning fat. Incorporating Pilates and/or Yoga for the flexibility and stretching aspects would benefit everyone immensely. If you need help please don’t hesitate to contact me and I can help you with creating a routine to benefit you and help you reach your goals and more importantly better your health so you can be more productive in every area of your life.
Now that we have spoken about Exercise- now is the time to speak about FOOD—- DIET—–
There are many foods that should not be in your diet- there are many foods that have additives that are linked to various diseases that we see many people suffering from everyday.
Here is a list of harmful additives in everyday foods:
Sodium Nitrite
BHA & BHT
Propyl gallate
Monosodium glutamate
Trans fats
Aspartame
Acesulfame-K
Food colorings (Blue,Red,Green,Yellow)
Olestra
10. Potassium bromated
11. White sugar
12. Sodium chloride (salt)
Some of these if not all of them may not be familiar to you. So we will go over some of them.
Sodium Nitrite – is a preservative added to pork (bacon-ham-hot dogs, sandwich meats, smoked fish) and this preservative has been linked to cancer.
BHA & BHT are preservatives you will in foods like cereal, gum, potato chips, and vegetable oils- have also been linked to cancer.
Propyl gallate is found in meats, chicken soup base, and gum- these have also been linked to cancer
Those were the top 3 and you can do your research on the others but it is scary to consider that American’s are spending 90 percent of their money on processed foods with these additives in them. Watching what you eat- eating close to the natural source will benefit not only you but your family. Please don’t add the old saying, “we’ll I ate it and look at me, I turned out ok.” Well they are not growing the food like they have done in the past when we grew up. There are more than 3,000 food additives – preservatives, flavorings, colors and other ingredients that are added to foods in the United States (Mercola). It is also “estimated that one glass of commercial nonorganic milk purchased from a grocery store may contain the residue of up to one hundred antibiotics” (Jordan Ruben, 2004). They are saying now that some of the organic milk – well may not even be organic so!!! You shouldn’t be drinking milk anyway- it has no health benefits and studies show that the human body has a hard time digesting milk.
The idea here is to educate yourself and read the labels! I know it takes a little longer in the grocery store but once you do it and you know the products that will benefit you and your family it is worth it and the next time you really don’t have to spend that much time reading labels; you know what to pick up.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
So I am here in Ohio with a certain denomination for a conference and I just can’t stop asking myself, “Do people just don’t care or are they that uneducated when it comes to food, health, and eating habits and the consequences?”
I mean the reason I ask this question is because I see a young father feeding his 2 year old son Pop (soda for those Southerners), and stuffing a hamburger – I mean stuffing- making him eat very quickly to get in the nursery. Now I am not one to talk about eating slowly and I know it is better for me to eat slow- etc… but I mean this guy was stuffing it down his little boys throat.
Then there are different companies that host reception time and I walked back there and there were literally 3 tables of baked goods. Now I love my baked good- pies- umm but honestly most of these people really don’t need more baked goods. Non of us need the amount of baked goods that were there.
I guess being at an event/conference like this you would expect healthier options but what I have come to find out is that no one is exempt from using the lowest cost- best tasting- methods to entertain their audience. What is sad is that these individuals that are here are not challenged in becoming healthier so they can further serve God, but all they are challenged to do is to grow spiritually. This is where I get frustrated with the “church” or certain “religious” institutions. They don’t seem to be holding accountable anyone about what goes into their mouths. Now I know there are some church’s that are doing their part and I am generalizing but – really- … Someone asking a toddler class if they want chocolate gram crackers.. really… what parent would want their kids to have Chocolate right now at 10 am in the morning.. when they come and pick them up they are crazy hyper..
I just don’t get it… I really don’t. Maybe it is the location- Maybe it is just lagging in education – Maybe they don’t care – or maybe no one is challenging them with a different mind set. That is why I am writing a dissertation on Obesity and ones spiritual life. I am tired of seeing individuals suffering because of their health. I am tired of people being so big that they can hardly walk- or have so many health issues because of their weight that they can’t get health insurance or get off the couch to play with their children or grand-children. I am tired of seeing the lack of discipline continue from the parents to the children when it comes to eating habits, healthy choices, and lifestyle choices. Nearly 1 in 3 children and adolescents are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight and I am tired of seeing parents, church’s, families contribute to the decline of health among out children and adolescents. There are severe consequences when it comes to being overweight or obese. When these children become adults, close to 80 percent of these individuals will continue to suffer with being overweight or obese and there will be more overweight adults surpassing 97 million overweight adults in today’s society. “ Researchers say that one out of three children born after 2000 will develop type 2 diabetes, which leads to adult blindness and kidney failure and worse that those who develop type 2 diabetes before the age of fifteen have a shortened life expectancy of approximately fifteen years”(Rubin, 2005, p. xxiii).
I am just fuming right now.. all week I see this and I want to say something but it isn’t my place to walk up to a parent and say something, but something has to be done. Maybe by being involved in these Associations and helping these Pastors get health insurance I can try to influence in some way or educate in some way one nutrition, healthy eating, exercise,e, etc…
I am sorry for the venting.. but it needed to be done.. this is something I am so passionate about.
After hearing about “Burst Training” from some of our friends, I started to do some research on it. Becky and I watched videos, researched scientific journals on burst training and I found a little bit about burst training – but I found a lot on interval training. It is similar in many ways but to some of us- interval training incorporates longer intervals of exercise. This is a little different from burst training as burst training you burst for 30 seconds at 90% of your max effort.
All in all- they both do some of the main things that are very beneficial for the individual. There are many ways can do burst training – on the treadmill- with weights – on a little stair stepper with weights- and outside!
Whatever way you do it one thing is for certain you are engaging in a type of exercise regime that you will see huge results. So- in my search for more information here is what I have found so far- and please be sure that I will find more and when I do I will again write about this type of exercise as it will benefit anyone exercising now- feeling like you are on a plateau- are not even exercising but wanting to start doing something.
Burst training or Surge training (as it is also called) helps to shift your hormonal levels. This is very important as when you burst/surge you are stimulating human growth hormones (HGH) within your body- also known as Anti-aging hormones. When the hormone HGH is increased it stimulates muscle growth by allowing the “creation of protein and makes fats more available as fuel by increasing their presence in the bloodstream” (American Fitness 2002). Brief spurts of high intensity training also shows that it turns on “genes that promote the growth of new blood vessels, make blood vessels more flexible, intensify the body’s defenses against harmful antioxidants, and ease low-level inflammation” (Harvard Heart Letter 2007).
According the American Fitness (2002) the interval type training entails exercising at higher intensities for shorter amounts of time. This added effort allows you to use more energy than the common aerobic exercise because while bursting you will use larger, less efficient muscles fibers which are not used as much when you have long periods of exercise. When you use more energy you are putting your body in a state of oxygen debt. This provides a spike in your metabolism and allows you to burn more calories. When your metabolism spikes it remains elevated throughout the day unlike when you do longer times of interval training or cardio training.
With burst or surge training as mentioned earlier you are exercising at a more intense rate and this demands more oxygen for your body and muscles. When this happens your heart must “adapt by raising both heart rate and stroke volume (i.e. amount of blood expelled per heart beat to provide oxygenated blood. Like any muscle trained under high stress, the heart muscle thickens. This increased pumping power, accompanies by an enlarged heart chamber is the main cardiovascular benefit of interval training” (American Fitness 2002). When you work the heart and other muscles hard for brief bursts it trains them to use oxygen more efficiently (Harvard Letter 2007).
1. High intensity bursts should last long enough and be strenuous enough that you are out of breath- 90% of your maximum heart rate.
2. Rest periods should be long enough to catch your breath but not too long where your heart rate slows to its resting rate.
3. ALWAYS WARM UP FIRST
4. Do not do high intensity burst training on consecutive days. Rest between training allowing your body to recuperate.
I hope this helps in your journey to reach your goals- or to continue to live a healthy life- or just to change things up in your routine.
